About
This is a site about all aspects of scuba diving. What is presented here is my personal thoughts and opinions and I encourage you to leave your comments on what I write. Geographically it is focused on Malta since I live here and there will also be bits about Thailand and Sweden; two areas of which I have good in-depth knowledge. I will also discuss thoughts about dive training, travel and very much anything that is more or less realted to this fantastic pastime.
About Myself
I learnt to dive in sunny Sweden between Christmas and New Year 1989. It had always been my dream to be a diver and at that time there was a 15 year age limit so I waited and waited. Having almost no money I took what I had and found a really cheap course – I think it was 150 euros. As always – there is no such thing as a free lunch and this was no exemption. The course took place in the sea out in the Swedish archipelago. Four degrees in the water and just as many in the air. Visibility about 1 meter on a good day.
There was no swimming pool and only wetsuits available but all these things didn’t put me off. I loved it. After the course we took our own boat out and before midsummer that year I think me and my cousin had managed to log 40 dives in ice cold water and we were probably just as excited as Cousteau must have been during his first dives in spite of ours mainly being cold, dark and muddy.
Things got better after that. I left my organised job in 2003 to become a full time PADI Instructor in Thailand and worked there for the season. During 2004 me, a friend and my wife to be started a dive centre in Malta. From there I got involved in a large franchise company within scuba diving which gave me a lot of insight in the entire industry.
Since February 2008 I have not been active at all in the industry and I do not teach. The reason is very easy- I simply want to have it as it used to be; a great hobby!
My dive credentials include:
- TDI Trimix Instructor
- PADI IDC Staff Instructor
- PADI Cavern Instructor
- Perhaps 1500 dives
- About 200 certifications, perhaps 50 of these technical divers
I hope you will find my blog enjoyable!

this is a personal message from diver to diver
hi there my name is ahdy and i’m the owner of divers planet club
i read the name of divers planet diving center in your black list.
divers planet never get the chance to be check from the CDWS, so what u write about the quality is not true.
the egyption goverment decide to dont open any new diving centers in sharm el sheikh.
so alot of the diving center ho bin closed did’t have the chance to be checked at alllllll
the owners of this diving centers R PADI instractors as well and thay R stell working as PADI instractors…. so please dont talk about the quality if we R closed 4 politic resonce . and some of us was recorded as PADI diving center before and may be stell there but in horghada or another place in egypt… and there is nothing about craching standart or bad quality in any reports about Divers Planet.
all the story that the system is changed and if u have license to work in ( Horghada- RED SEA ) u cant use it to dive or open a branch in ( Sharm el sheikh RED SEA ) !!!!!! ???? and if there is any bad report about Divers Planet please let me know.
please it is our repetation as PADI instractors and we r following the PADI Quality
and if one of us dont follow u know that PADI well be the fist one ho stop him
we r all one comming from the same schoole.
please if u can not help us to make our dream true to have our own diving center

i well be very happy if u contact me…. thanks Please reaply
