BSAC Incident Report

BSAC does also publish statistics annually. It focuses mainly on accidents and incidents in UK waters but also some from abroad. It is interesting reading and looking at the fatalities show a few interesting things:

 - What seems to be a Scuba Diving accident can sometimes be a fatality from other medical conditions such as a heart attack. (I have seen in other reports that heart attacks are the most common cause of death among diver)

- Separation is very common

- Many of the fatalities occured in wreck. Wreck diving is often done at greater depth than normal diving and I believe that the lack of references when ascending and descending adds to the risk

The report can be downloaded here.
